A Single Nucleotide Polymorphism in the WIF1 Promoter Region Regulates the Wool Length in Rabbits

Wool length is an important trait in the rabbit wool industry. Wnt inhibitory factor 1 (WIF1), a key gene, regulates hair follicle growth and development. This study explores WIF1 gene relationship with production traits three different breeds, Rex rabbit, New Zealand Angora rabbit. The sequence was obtained from GenBank, PCR Sanger sequencing were applied to screen SNP (single nucleotide polymorphism) exons promoter regions. Sequencing results found no products of 10 indicating that not polymorphic. Thus, conserved all breeds. Only one region, associated wool-producing rabbits. Luciferase activity assays showed AA genotype had higher transcriptional activities than AG or GG (p < 0.01). In addition, significantly upregulated compared summary, region be fiber trait.
